The Contemporary Higher Education Scenario in India

India has often been linked with a phenomenon such as ‘brain drain’ and has been seen as a country where most of the students go internationally to pursue studies. However, in recent years, this outlook has changed and students from around the globe are considering India as a preferred choice for pursuing higher education. Indeed, as per a report published in 2012 by the Institute of International Education, India ranks 11th in terms of the most popular choice among US students for studying abroad.

With the tag of most populated country in world after China, and a fast paced and even-more potent economy, it is not surprising that India’s education system has seen a paradigm shift in the last few decades to cater to changing educational needs. Such being the scenario, India has laid claim to being one of the largest higher education systems in the world and perhaps one of the most complicated, from an outsider’s perspective. There are thousands of top private universities in India, catering to different specializations, some of which are  state-aided.

India is well known for the quality education it provides in Engineering and Technology, Medicine, and Law. There are currently 16 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), in India and many private institutions such as Jindal Global University (JGU) that impart quality education. JGU, approved by UGC, has been a popular choice among the students across the country, who desire for international standards in education.

With its sprawling campus spreading across several acres, it proudly acclaims to be the only university in India with multiple disciplines, facilitating higher education in areas such as Mass Communication, Management, Law and many more. JGU’s Law Institute is among the top 10 law schools in India. Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) offers a multidisciplinary global-quality business education to create and nurture academic excellence through industry partnerships and international collaborations.

JGBS strives to create a powerful impact through its various degree programmes, executive education and research and consulting. The institute promotes international courses, curriculum, global research, various collaborations, international programmes and interactions through their highly experienced and competent global faculty.
